These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Engram. Please read them before using the app. By creating an account or using Engram, you accept these Terms.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Engram you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your country, to use Engram. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. What Engram is
Engram is an Android app that reads the flashcard decks in your AnkiDroid installation and lets you study them by voice with a real-time AI tutor. The tutor reads questions aloud, listens to your spoken answers, evaluates them, and advances through the deck. Engram requires AnkiDroid to be installed and requires you to grant access to your AnkiDroid collection. Without AnkiDroid and that permission, the core features will not work.
4. Relationship to AnkiDroid and Anki
Engram is an independent product. "Anki" and "AnkiDroid" are trademarks of their respective owners. Engram is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by AnkiDroid or its owners. Engram integrates with AnkiDroid only through AnkiDroid's own public, documented API, with your permission.
5. Your account
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure and for activity that happens under your Engram account. Tell us promptly at support@engramcards.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
6. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Engram on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial study. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except where the law expressly allows it.
7. Free trial, subscriptions, and billing
- Free trial. New accounts get a free trial that ends after 7 days or after a set number of study sessions, whichever comes first. The trial may change or be withdrawn for future users.
- Subscriptions. Continued access after the trial requires a paid subscription (for example a monthly or yearly plan). Prices are shown in the app and at checkout in your local currency.
- Payment and renewal. All payments are processed by Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Google Play account is charged on renewal.
- Manage and cancel. You manage, change, or cancel your subscription in Google Play. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its policies. We do not separately process payments or refunds.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to bypass the trial limits, subscription gating, or any security or authentication measure.
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the app or its backend services.
- Use the app to generate, submit, or store content that is illegal or that infringes someone else's rights.
9. AI tutor and accuracy
The tutor's questions, evaluations, grades, and spoken responses are generated by an AI model and can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading. Engram is a study aid, not a source of authoritative, professional, medical, legal, or financial advice. You are responsible for verifying anything important and for your own learning decisions. Grades the tutor writes back to AnkiDroid are AI estimates of your answer, not a guarantee of correctness.
10. Safe use
Engram is a voice app, but it still needs your attention. Do not use Engram while driving, cycling, operating machinery, or in any situation that requires your full attention or where distraction could be dangerous. Use the app only when it is safe to do so. You are solely responsible for using the app safely and lawfully.
11. Your content
Your flashcards and decks are yours. Engram claims no ownership of them. By using the app you grant us a limited license to read and process that content as needed to provide the service, including sending the cards under review to the AI provider during a session, as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Intellectual property
The Engram name, wordmark, app, and its original design and code are owned by the developer and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in them beyond the license above.
13. Third-party services
Engram depends on third-party services, including Google (Firebase, Gemini, and Google Play) and AnkiDroid. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
Engram is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific study goals.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or learning progress, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. Termination
You may stop using Engram at any time by uninstalling it and, if you wish, requesting deletion of your account. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that harms the service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
18. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply. Questions about these Terms go to support@engramcards.com.
